This glossary covers every term you’ll encounter when researching, buying, or discussing super clone watches. Whether you’re new to the community or an experienced buyer, bookmark this page as a reference. Terms are organized by category.
Community & Slang Terms
- TD (Trusted Dealer)
- A seller with a verified track record of delivering quality watches, providing accurate QC photos, and resolving issues honestly. TDs are vetted by the replica watch community through reviews and reputation. Not all sellers are TDs — the designation must be earned. Mirck Clone is a recognized TD for all 11 major luxury watch brands.
- Rep / Replica
- Short for replica — a watch made to look like a genuine luxury timepiece. The term covers all quality levels from cheap tourist fakes to high-end super clones. Context matters: “rep” alone implies any quality level, while “super clone” implies the highest tier.
- Super Clone
- The highest tier of replica watches. Super clones use the same or near-identical materials as genuine watches (904L steel, sapphire crystal, genuine Swiss movements), match case dimensions precisely, and replicate movement finishing and dial details. Typically 5–10× more expensive than low-tier replicas but 20–50× cheaper than genuine.
- Gen (Genuine)
- Short for genuine — refers to the authentic brand-manufactured watch. “Gen spec” means matching the genuine watch’s specifications. “Side by side with gen” means a comparison photo with the authentic watch.
- NWBIG (Not Worth Buying In Gen)
- A community verdict that a particular watch is not worth buying as a genuine piece — either due to poor value, quality issues, or excessive wait lists. Paradoxically, NWBIG watches are often the best super clone targets: high name recognition, high genuine price, low genuine quality justification. Examples: many current Rolex sport models at grey market premiums.
- QC (Quality Control)
- Photos taken of your specific watch before it ships. A reputable TD photographs your individual watch — front, back, bracelet, crown, dial close-up — and sends them to you for approval before packaging. You should always request QC photos and reject watches with visible defects. This is standard practice; any TD who refuses to provide QC photos should be avoided.
- GL (Green Light)
- Your approval message to the TD after reviewing QC photos. “GL” tells the dealer to pack and ship your watch. Conversely, “RL” (Red Light) requests a replacement or refund.
- WTS / WTB
- Want to Sell / Want to Buy — community shorthand for listings in secondhand sales threads.
- WOTD (Watch of the Day)
- A popular social thread format in replica watch communities where members post photos of the watch they’re wearing that day.
- Spacer
- A small adapter ring used to fill the gap between a watch case and a bracelet that doesn’t fit perfectly flush. Common in lower-tier replicas where the bracelet-to-lug gap is visible. Absence of spacers is a quality indicator.
- Frankenwatch
- A watch assembled from parts of different origins — e.g., a genuine Rolex case fitted with a replica movement, or a genuine dial in a clone case. Common in grey markets; rarely relevant for new super clone purchases.
Quality Tiers Explained
| Tier | Price Range | Materials | Movement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tourist / Low-tier | $20–80 | Pot metal, mineral glass | Cheap quartz or pin-lever |
| Mid-tier | $80–200 | 316L steel, sapphire crystal | Chinese automatic (NH35) |
| High-tier Rep | $200–350 | 904L steel, sapphire, ceramic | Clone movement or ETA |
| Super Clone | $350–750+ | 904L steel, genuine sapphire, same specs as gen | High-spec clone cal. or genuine Swiss ETA |
- 1:1 Clone
- A watch advertised as a perfect one-to-one copy of the genuine. In practice, the term is used loosely by sellers; “1:1” should be verified through QC photos and community reviews rather than taken at face value. The best super clones are genuinely close to 1:1 in dimensions and materials.
- Best Rep / BR
- Community shorthand for the best available replica of a particular model. “What’s the best rep Submariner?” is a common question. The answer changes as new factory versions improve or degrade quality.
Factory Names & Identifiers
Replica watches are manufactured in factories in China, primarily in the Guangdong province. Each factory is known by an abbreviation. Factory quality varies significantly by model and changes over time as factories improve or decline.
- VSF (VS Factory)
- Known for high-quality Audemars Piguet Royal Oak replicas, particularly the 15500ST. VSF’s Grande Tapisserie dial execution is considered among the best in the market.
- ZF (ZF Factory)
- Specialist in Patek Philippe and AP replicas. ZF’s Nautilus 5711 is widely regarded as the best Nautilus super clone available. Also produces quality Calatrava and Aquanaut pieces.
- Clean Factory (CF)
- Historically produced some of the best Rolex Submariner and GMT-Master replicas. Known for case quality and bracelet construction. Quality consistency has varied in recent years; check current community reviews before purchasing CF pieces.
- ARF (ARF Factory)
- Known for Rolex pieces, particularly the GMT-Master II “Pepsi” (red/blue ceramic bezel) and “Batman” (black/blue). ARF’s ceramic bezel work is consistently praised.
- JVS / JF
- Specialists in Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet. JVS in particular is known for high-quality Nautilus pieces with strong movement finishing.
- KVF (KV Factory)
- Known for Rolex Daytona replicas, particularly the “Panda” dial variants. KVF’s Clone Cal. 4130 execution is considered among the best for Daytona super clones.
- N Factory
- Historical Rolex specialist. N Factory pieces are widely distributed and represent a mid-to-high tier quality level. Known for Submariner and GMT consistency.
- MKS / GS Factory
- Produce strong Omega Seamaster and Speedmaster replicas, often including the Clone Cal. 8800 movement option.
- XF Factory
- Known for Richard Mille replicas, particularly RM 011 and RM 035. XF uses titanium alloy cases and produces the skeletonized movements used in RM super clones.
Movement Terminology
- bph (Beats Per Hour)
- The frequency of the balance wheel oscillation — a key specification for automatic movements. Common values: 21,600 bph (6 beats/second), 28,800 bph (8 beats/second). Higher bph generally means smoother seconds hand sweep and better accuracy. Most modern luxury and super clone movements run at 28,800 bph.
- Power Reserve (PR)
- How long a fully wound movement will run without being worn. Measured in hours. A 70-hour power reserve means the watch runs for 70 hours from full wind — enough to take off Friday night and put back on Monday morning. Clone Cal. 3235 = 70hr PR; ETA 2824-2 = 38–42hr PR.
- Clone Cal. 3235
- The clone movement used in Rolex Submariner and Datejust super clones. Replicates Rolex’s in-house Calibre 3235 — 28,800 bph, 70-hour power reserve, date display. Considered the benchmark Rolex clone movement.
- Clone Cal. 3285
- Clone of Rolex Calibre 3285, used in GMT-Master II super clones. Features an independent GMT hand that can be set separately from the hour hand for a second time zone. 28,800 bph, 70-hour power reserve.
- Clone Cal. 4130
- Clone of Rolex’s column-wheel flyback chronograph caliber, used in Daytona super clones. A highly complex movement that’s difficult to replicate; top-tier KVF Daytona clones achieve the best results.
- Clone AP Cal. 4302
- Clone movement for AP Royal Oak 15500ST. 28,800 bph, date, 70-hour power reserve. The current-generation AP Royal Oak movement replica.
- Clone Cal. 5711A
- Clone movement used in Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711 super clones. Replicates the Patek 5711 caliber with date at 3 o’clock and small seconds. 28,800 bph.
- ETA 2824-2
- A genuine Swiss Made movement produced by ETA SA (Swatch Group). 28,800 bph, 38–42-hour power reserve, date. Used in genuine Omega, Longines, and TAG Heuer watches. Many super clones (Omega, Breitling, Longines) use this actual Swiss movement — not a clone — which is a significant quality advantage.
- ETA 7750
- Genuine Swiss automatic column-wheel chronograph movement. 28,800 bph. Used in genuine TAG Heuer, Breitling, and Zenith watches. The standard movement for Swiss chronograph super clones (Navitimer, Carrera, Chronomat).
- NH35 / NH35A
- Seiko’s automatic movement, produced at scale and widely used in mid-tier replicas. 21,600 bph, 41-hour power reserve. Reliable and serviceable but not representative of the genuine movement in luxury watches. Finding an NH35 in a watch described as a “super clone” is a red flag.
- Co-Axial Escapement
- Omega’s patented low-friction escapement mechanism used in genuine Master Co-Axial calibers. Reduces friction at the escapement, theoretically extending service intervals. Clone Cal. 8800 attempts to replicate this mechanism. The genuine co-axial cannot be precisely duplicated in a clone at current manufacturing capability.
- Tourbillon
- A rotating cage mechanism designed to counteract gravity’s effect on the balance wheel. Genuine tourbillons (as in Richard Mille, Patek Philippe) are hand-assembled complications worth tens of thousands of dollars. Clone “tourbillons” are Chinese-made mechanisms that provide the visual spectacle but not the precision engineering.
- Hand-wound / Manual Wind
- A movement that requires manual winding via the crown, with no rotor. Some watches (Panerai Radiomir, Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch) are hand-wound by design. Super clones should match — verify if authenticity to the genuine’s manual-wind nature matters to you.
Materials & Specifications
- 904L Stainless Steel
- A high-grade austenitic stainless steel with higher corrosion resistance and better polishability than standard 316L. Rolex switched to 904L in 1988; Patek Philippe and some other top brands use it. Super clone Rolex, Patek, and AP watches should use 904L. The difference is subtle in practice but indicates production quality.
- 316L Stainless Steel
- The industry-standard stainless steel for watch cases. Corrosion-resistant, hard, and widely used. Most luxury brands use 316L for non-Rolex/Patek products. Omega, Breitling, TAG Heuer, Panerai, and Longines all use 316L, as do their super clones.
- Sapphire Crystal
- Synthetic sapphire (aluminum oxide) used as watch glass. 9 on the Mohs hardness scale — nearly scratch-proof, softer only than diamond. Standard in all genuine luxury watches and quality super clones. Anti-reflective (AR) coating reduces glare. Inferior watches use mineral glass (easily scratched) or acrylic.
- Ceramic Bezel Insert
- A bezel ring made from zirconium oxide ceramic — scratch-resistant and colorfast. Used on Rolex Submariner, GMT-Master II, Omega Seamaster, and others. Color is integral to the material, not a coating. Quality super clones use genuine ceramic inserts; cheap replicas use painted metal that chips.
- PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition)
- A vacuum coating process that deposits a thin layer of material (typically titanium nitride or DLC) onto a metal surface. Used to create black (“DLC”), gold, or rose gold finishes on watch cases. PVD coating on super clones is functionally identical to genuine PVD — both will eventually show wear at contact points.
- DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon)
- A type of PVD coating that creates an extremely hard black finish. Used on black case watches (black Submariner, black Royal Oak). DLC on quality super clones is applied by the same vacuum deposition process as genuine watches.
- AR Coating (Anti-Reflective)
- A thin-film coating on sapphire crystals that reduces glare and reflection. All quality sapphire crystals have AR coating on at least one side. “Double AR” means coating on both sides. Critical for legibility — an uncoated crystal shows strong reflections that obscure the dial.
- Côtes de Genève
- A decorative wave pattern (also called Geneva stripes) applied to movement bridges and plates. A hallmark of fine Swiss watchmaking visible through exhibition casebacks. Top-tier super clone movements replicate this finishing; entry-level clones omit it.
- Grande Tapisserie
- The distinctive checkered guilloché dial pattern used on Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watches. Each square is individually machined, creating the pattern’s three-dimensional depth. The quality of Tapisserie reproduction is the primary quality indicator for AP Royal Oak super clones.
Watch Anatomy Terms
- Bezel
- The ring surrounding the crystal on a watch case. Can be fixed (decorative), rotating unidirectional (dive watches), or bidirectional. The bezel type, material, and markings are key identification features for most watch models.
- Lug
- The protruding ears at 12 and 6 o’clock that connect the case to the bracelet or strap. Lug shape is a key design element — some watches (Royal Oak, Nautilus) have integrated lugs where the bracelet flows continuously from the case.
- Crown
- The winding and setting mechanism typically located at 3 o’clock. “Screw-down crown” means the crown screws into the case for water resistance, as on Rolex Submariner. Crowned with the brand logo on quality watches.
- Caseback
- The back plate of the watch case. “Exhibition caseback” = transparent sapphire, allowing movement viewing. “Solid caseback” = metal, often engraved with model information. Some watches (Rolex sport models) always use solid casebacks; others are exhibition.
- Deployant Clasp / Butterfly Clasp
- A folding bracelet clasp that opens from the center, distributing wear across multiple fold points. More secure than a box clasp. Standard on quality super clone bracelets. “Push-button” deployant opens via recessed pushers for safety against accidental opening.
- Integrated Bracelet
- A bracelet design where the bracelet links are specifically designed to flow continuously into the watch case, creating a unified visual appearance. Used on AP Royal Oak, Patek Nautilus, Vacheron Overseas. The hardest bracelet type to replica faithfully.
- Cyclops Lens
- The magnifying lens over the date window on Rolex Datejust and some other models. Genuine Rolex Cyclops lenses magnify 2.5×. A properly magnifying Cyclops is an accuracy point for Datejust super clones.
- Helium Escape Valve
- A one-way valve on saturation dive watches (Rolex Sea-Dweller, Omega Planet Ocean) that releases trapped helium during decompression. Present on genuine and quality super clone dive watches. Not needed for recreational diving.
Buying Process Terms
- PayPal F&F (Friends and Family)
- A PayPal transfer method with no buyer protection, commonly used by TDs. Historically the standard payment method; now largely replaced by cryptocurrency. Never use PayPal Goods and Services for replica watch purchases — the chargeback risk forces TDs to ban buyers who use it.
- USDT / Crypto Payment
- Cryptocurrency-based payment, primarily USDT (Tether) on the TRC-20 (Tron) network. The modern standard for TD payments. Transactions are irreversible, which places trust responsibility on both parties. Mirck Clone accepts USDT via NOWPayments.
- Line / WhatsApp / WeChat
- Messaging platforms used for TD communication. QC photos and order status are typically shared via these channels rather than email. WhatsApp is most common for Western buyers; WeChat for Chinese market buyers.
- ~12 days to US/EU
- Typical shipping time estimate for replica watches shipped from China to Western destinations. Varies by customs situation. Most TDs use discreet packaging.
- Customs / Seized
- Replica watches can be seized at customs in some countries. Risk varies by destination — US and EU customs occasionally seize shipments. TDs typically reship once for free if a package is confirmed seized. Declaring replacement value is standard practice.
- Reship
- When a TD sends a replacement watch after the original shipment is lost, seized, or otherwise undelivered. Reputable TDs offer one free reship per order.
- Warranty
- A movement repair/replacement guarantee from the TD. Quality TDs offer 12-month movement warranties covering mechanical defects (not physical damage). Mirck Clone provides 12-month movement warranty on all watches.
